John Crawshaw, expert butchers for food lovers, has been a feature on Manchester Road in Stocksbridge for over 60 years. Like most people, John is looking forward to Sunday 30 April when the Tour de Yorkshire comes to town.
“It’s a great boost for the valley and will also help put FoxValley itself on the map too. I am still not sure where to watch from because the peloton will race past our Manchester Road shops twice and finish virtually in front of our new one in the Fox Valley Shopping Centre.”
John goes on to explain that the Tour de Yorkshire weekend will cap a busy and exciting time for his business. After having a stall at the market for the last year, he has just opened a purpose-built new shop (near Ponti’s Italian Kitchen) in FoxValley.
The new John Crawshaw will feature the full range of locally-sourced Seven Hills meat, award-winning pies and sausages, plus traditionally cured bacon that John describes as, “Bacon like it used to be.”
But that’s not all, there’s also a separate counter for their wide range of home cooked meats and self-select chiller and freezer units where customers can choose from a wide range of delicious, easy to cook, pre-prepared meals and more exotic cuts such as game and venison.
To cap a busy month, shoppers on Manchester Road will see an important change as John’s neighbouring shops will be “swapped over”. In a move that has already been welcomed by customers, the original (smaller) shop will become the traditional butcher’s shop while the bigger shop (the old Co-op that John took over two years ago) will become the fresh food, sandwich and deli store.
With five shops in north Sheffield you are never far from a John Crawshaw. Look out for their distinctive yellow and black branding to be sure you are shopping with Sheffield’s local family butcher – your tastebuds will certainly notice a change for the better.
